Serenity's Roman Orgy Cast: Serenity, Dee, Nikita Denise, Kylie Ireland, Christi Lake, Zana, Lezley Zen, Kristal Summers, Cheryl Dynasty, Alex Sanders, Chris Cannon, Randy Spears, Ian Daniels, Steve Hatcher
Reviewed by Diesel Orgies have become a rare act in today's fuck flicks. These days, the closest viewers get to an all-out, massively populated are gangbangs (and given the necessarily lop-sided male to female ratio, they don't really count) and foursomes (as seen in many Private flicks and in some freak-show gonzo titles). A relatively recent attempt to recall the glory days of group scenes can be seen in THE FIESTA, which ultimately failed due to poor camera work, clumsy direction and a general sense of decidedly un-erotic chaos. With the release of SERENITY'S ROMAN ORGY, director Jonathan Morgan makes a valiant attempt to give viewers something more than just your routine, five-scene (including the obligatory girl-girl) fuck and suck affair. Two extended scenes of literally wall-to-wall carnality make up this eighty-minute feature, which naturally carries a Roman theme with colorful costumes and budget-minded set designs. While I was impressed by some segments, the movie doesn't wow me like other Morgan-directed features have (such as THE GATE). And because we are dealing with a Roman orgy, I was surprised to find the film lacking in any truly lewd conduct or overt nastiness, such as double penetration and anal shots. (The obvious presence of condoms also detract from the so-called depravity. It's good for performers to play it safe, but I doubt that Trojan brand rubbers - despite the name - were widely used during that era. ) In a nutshell, bang-able babes Cheryl Dynasty, Christi Lake, Kylie Ireland, Kristal Summers, Lezley Zen, Nikita Denise, Zana and, of course, Serenity all congregate in one room for ready, willing and able studs Alex Sanders, Steve Hatcher, Ian Daniels, Randy Spears and Chris Cannon for the first scene. The titled starlet is primarily matched up with Ian Daniels, while Dee and Kristal put their mouth on Alex's sword of flesh. Elsewhere, Zana has indulges in Cheryl Dynasty while Kylie and Nikita go after Steve Hatcher. Gradually, the party expands, and despite some annoying slow motion sequences, the hardcore is generally well-captured and well-directed right up the series of climactic money shots. After a brief intermission, the festivities re-commence with a variation in pairings and team-ups, and the results are just as good as the first orgy. Unlike some filmed (or taped, as the case may be) orgies, the viewer does not get the feeling that while the camera is focused on one event, something better and more interesting is happening off-camera nearby. On the other hand, the constantly intercut hardcore makes it difficult to focus on one certain couple. And just when your ready to sit back and take in Zana's doggy-pounding by Mr. Hatcher, which is highlighted by Cheryl pulling on her hair as Christi caresses her ass, we are "forced" to switch to another scene, breaking the momentum of your visual enjoyment. Such is the nature of the beast, but other superior flicks like FACE DANCE and HIDDEN OBSESSIONS manage to avoid these trappings thanks to careful editing which keeps the erotic rhythm flowing smoother and more natural. Director Morgan wisely keeps his camera focused during the all-important cumshots, such as the messy oral one received by Nikita Denise courtesy of Randy Spears. Video and audio quality is as great as we have come to expect from Wicked Pictures. The Special Features are also good and include with a behind the scenes featurette, interviews with Serenity, Christy Lake, Lezley Zen and Zana, a photo gallery and other performer information and tidbits. Also noteworthy is the colorful and well-animated menu and opening title credits, which feature a roving close-up of Serenity's face. It's little touches like these which make collecting Wicked DVDs a pleasure. SERENITY'S ROMAN ORGY, as I understand it, also happens to be the Serenity's swan song with Wicked. If so, then it's definitely a must-have for her fans, but casual viewers will enjoy it, too.
