From: [email protected] (JT) Ah, the magnificence that is a title from our good friends over at Vivid. I am presently waiting for their first terrible title and while this could be the one, I am definitely not expecting it. Due to the sheer volume of scenes in this disc, I’m going to try and pare this down to the strongest scenes to let you make your buying decision. As an added plus, not only is Vivid doing this disc, this disc is dedicated a definite shining light in the business, Devon. Her combination of young, almost wholesome beauty with a wicked sexuality is an unbelievably hot total package. I don’t know where Vivid digs them up, but they have some stunners in their line-up. And if you’re one of those unfortunate few who have yet to be treated to an overdose of Devon, well, this is your lucky day. So sit back, grab a napkin or two, and prepare to enjoy yourself. As a rule, I’m going to avoid much describing of the girl-girl scenes mainly because all of them are excellent, but girl-girl scenes are, basically, the same. I’m not saying they’re bad (because, as stated just one sentence prior, they are anything but bad), but my descriptions of them don’t do justice to them. Girl-girl scenes are saved by the performances of the actresses rather than the depiction of any actual sexual act, and performances are hard to express fully in a review. So, with that, a quick sampling of the title: One scene that is actually much better upon subsequent viewings gives us Devon and a faceless guy going at it in a field. This scene is quite energetic and watching them try and avoid showing the man’s face through this whole scene was interesting, at the very least. It had to be a conscious decision because you couldn’t accidentally shoot a scene like this without seeing the man’s face prominently (the editor of this particular scene, if this is indeed what they were shooting for, did a magnificent job). After some interesting positional work, Devon takes the salty shower but not before we get Devon giving us one of her usual exquisite performances. Her ability to look almost innocent while in the process of having sex is something to marvel at. We get another all-girl scene that features Devon and eight other girls. Just trying to pick out faces, I quickly see Chloe, Tai, and Devon. The lighting for this scene is less than optimal so I’m having a hard time picking out all of the girls. Now, before I go any further, I realize that I have just violated one of the rules I set down at the start of this review, namely not doing all girl scenes. Well, this one is different and deserves some explanation. This scene just works exceptionally well. The usage of food actually does spice this scene up (a rarity) and the girls make it seem to us that shooting the scene was the time of their lives. In this industry, illusion is the most important part of the whole erotic equation and anything that can be done to make a more appealing illusion is a good thing. And, in case somebody doesn’t realize this, it’s hard to pull off good any orgies on video due to the constraints of not being able to film ALL of the action. Too many companies end up trying to show too much and, in the process, completely miss the proper way to shoot it. I’m not usually a huge fan of any group sex scene (largely because of the inability to follow the action coherently), but this scene was done rather well. They managed to set it up so that you could see most of the girls in various layers (some were in the foreground, some in the background simultaneously). They managed to capture the anarchy of the action without making the scene impossible to follow. We even get a cute little whipped cream fight followed by a lengthy cleaning-up process with a garden hose. The second part of this disc (I say second part because my player wouldn’t play it at the end of the first part. I had to access the chapters menu and click on this particular scene to keep it going) as Devon and, I believe, Cassidey (I’ve never seen Cassidey’s work before this, so I can only imagine that I’m correct here) go to work on two men. The first guy finishes rather quickly with Devon (likely a problem for her), coating her breasts with his own special sauce before she goes and lets Cassidy’s man go to town on her while Cassidey pushes her own buttons. Definitely a nice one, again because Devon is quite adept at the moans and screams necessary to make any sex sound like good sex. We are also given previews/trailers for the rest of their line on “Deep Inside” series, starring Jenteal, Kobe Tai (or, now, just Kobi), Janine, and Jenna Jamison. Not only has Vivid gone the intelligent route of including trailers, they have even pared the trailers down to a select few directly targeted at the consumer of this title. The trailers are, well, on the short side, but I’m a forgiving sort about that. It is the thought that counts here. There’s also a nifty little ad for their nice little website (you can guess what the URL is). You see it in most of their newer titles and it’s nothing special, but again, it shows a very smart business sense out of our good friends over at Vivid. In the eyes of this reviewer, Vivid has managed to nail down the perfect formula for adult movies. They don’t go for the shock value of multiple guys plugging various orifices because it, quite honestly, is not erotic. Multiple girls tends to be, but more than one guy in a scene seldom works. Vivid will, occasionally, have multiple guys in a scene, but it seems to be the exception rather than the rule and you will seldom see a Vivid release where we have to watch a group of guys beating themselves off while “waiting their turn” (for lack of a more apt description). They try and tell a story that will actually draw the viewer more into the product as well. Vivid seems to have learned that shock value is not the path to take because, at some point, you just can’t be shocking enough (and if you happen to enjoy the shock titles out there, more power to you). They, instead, have managed to earn a good living in the sensual eroticism area, mixing the occasional hardcore stuff with the softer, more sensual stuff--creating quite the combo. Well, kids, this is another gem for Vivid. I didn’t even get to get into all of the scenes on this disc (honestly, I barely even scratched the surface) that were good. There are several sections I didn’t even crack for this review at all, and all of them are quite solid. Anytime a company’s disc can almost be viewed as being too loaded, that company has got themselves one good disc on their hands. As is the case with Vivid, you really can’t go wrong with it. Vivid has yet to put out a DVD that didn’t just rock my world and, not terribly surprisingly, delivered another one. I’m almost anticipating the first poor Vivid DVD (simply so that I can write something different about the company), but at this rate, I’m not sure that they can possibly do it.
