From: [email protected] (Humevesne) "Tristan Taormino's Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women" is the first effort of a young writer who makes her debut in porn by writing, directing and even performing debut in this two-tape set. This gives this impressive but flawed work a fair claim at being the "Citizen Kane" of fuck films. There are some problems with it, however. Tristan sets herself out in her recent Village Voice piece to be a bookish academic who knows calculus and is completely different from your usual porn slut. This is nonsense, as we can see the minute she takes off her clothes. She has the same tattoos and pierced nipples that any babe spreading them for Ed Powers would have (she does *not* however have fake tits -- they're small but they're real). Further, when you go onto her new website (www.puckerup.com), you find out that she's a lesbian who's been a fetish model and sex performer for years. It makes the tape seem just a little bit phony. It would have been much more exciting to see a *real* academic or true erotica novice make such a tape. Most of the tape is quite good. Tristan is smart and articulate and the educational parts of the video are actually both entertaining and educational. Her vocal delivery is a little nasal and whiny, stopping just short of being annoying, but she's cute and enthusiastic and that helps a lot. The porn stars appearing in the tape appear to be really into it and some of the sex scenes are very well done. The problem, I'm sorry to say, is at the end of the tape (since there's a spoiler ahead, please scroll down). Spoiler Space... Spoiler Space... I know it's stupid, it's porn for Chrissake, but people get upset if you spoil endings, even in a fuck film, so keep scrolling... Anyway, after showing all these porn stars demonstrating various positions and applications of anal sex, the teacher gets taught herself, and Tristan takes on the entire cast in a ten-person anal gangbang. The gangbang was shot by Buttman himself, John Stagliano, and it's easily the worst part of the video. While Tristan herself is really cute, with a nice body (if you can overlook the tattoos and piercing) and an adorable smile that makes it clear that she is *totally* into this, the camerawork and direction just fall down completely. There's too much going on. Too often he will cut away or pan away to extraneous action that has nothing to do with what should be the focus of the scene -- Tristan taking it up the ass in as many ways as she can. Too often there are so many people crowding the frame at once that you can't even see her face -- and, you can't stress this too many times, it's the woman's face that should always be the focus of a sex scene. The positions that she is put in are consistently awkward and unphotogenic. There's a great woman-on-top shot earlier in the video (beautifully shot by the main videographer, Ernest Greene), but Tristan never gets on top. Also, there's no double penetration (at least not with two real cocks anyway), which is a startling and bizarre omission in an anal sex video. And while it may not be surprising, considering that Tristan seems to be basically a lesbian, she doesn't do nearly enough cocksucking (and what she *does* do is badly shot and hard to see). And when the guys come at the end of the scene, she takes pains *not* to have them come on her face -- although the absolutely delicious smile with which she takes their ejaculations on her chest almost makes up for it. All in all, though, the 80% of the video that preceeds the final scene is well worth watching, and when you consider that it's a first effort, it's an impressive accomplishment. Tristan Taormino is a smart, attractive young woman who is both articulate and enthusiastic about performing sexually on camera -- and how many porn stars can you say *that* about? She also shows some pretty good chops as a director, and fetish videographer Ernest Greene is little short of brilliant. I'd like to see Tristan make more videos, both as director and as performer, because she is certainly a real talent, and someone to keep an eye on in the future.
