REVIEW: Masseuse # 3 (Vivid)

SYNOPSIS: Well, I finally got myself a DVD player. And among the first DVD
titles I purchased were a few Vivid feature movies (Masseuse 3, Lotus, and the
World's Luckiest Man). I had heard that Vivid was the king when it comes to
adult DVDs, with many of their movies taking advantage of the DVD technology,
such as multi-angles (i.e., you choose the view of the action), multiple
screen, high quality audio and visual as well as including extra stuffs such as
previews and min-biographies of Vivid Girls. Anyway, after watching Masseuse 3
on DVD, I felt Vivid didn't disappoint me as far as showing off its DVD
capabilities. However, they disappointed me in another way. After watching the
movie once, I felt that something was missing in the movie. Like Mr. Marcus,
Jamie Gillis, and Katie Gold who were all in the cast list, but were all AWOL
in the movie. And I recalled reading in the recent edition of AVN that the
movie was over two hours long. I checked with the time-counter on my DVD player
 And yes, the movie in my DVD player was only 72 minutes long! Not believing
this, I went to my local video store and rented out Masseuse 3 on VHS.  After
seeing the 'entire' movie, my suspicions were confirmed. They had edited out
practically HALF the movie (i.e., one whole hour!) in the DVD version!!! My DVD
was missing at least three entire sex scenes! In particular, two scene with
Taylor Hayes (in the DVD version, she appeared in the first 20 minutes of the
movie, but practically disappeared for the rest of the movie). One of Taylor's
scene that was cut out in the DVD is an excellent scene where she is double
teamed by Mr. Marcus and Billy Glide. Why the hell would they edit this scene
out!? This scene has got to be one of the hottest scenes Vivid has ever come
out with!!! Yet, the powers that be at Vivid decided to take this scene out,
along with a couple of perfectly good scenes, defying all logic.

As for the movie itself (at least on VHS anyway) Masseuse # 3 has got to be one
of the best adult movies I've ever seen, with a good script and good
performances by the cast. James Bonn plays Erik Dekker, a pathetic nerd who
worships beautiful bitch-queen, Dana St. Clair (Taylor Hayes). She is seriously
abusive towards him, mistreats him, makes fun of him, and having him carrying
her books, doing her home work, cleaning her room, etc. He dreams about her
constantly, and keeps telling her that he loves her, while she constantly
rejects him, makes fun of him, and basically treating him like a bug. Adding
into the equation is brothel worker, Shiloh Smith (Melissa Hill), whom Erik
frequently visits and confides to.  She takes an emotional liking towards him,
but he seems hesitant towards liking her because of what she does and also
because she is still obsessed with Dana. Shiloh has big dreams and wants to
leave town, asking Erik to go away with her. The ending of the movie may come
as a surprise, for those expecting a happy ending. 

Again, the movie was very well acted. You get a strong performance from James
Bonn, Taylor Hayes, Melissa Hill, Chloe Nicole and Herschel Savage. Bonn did a
convincing job of portraying the Erik Dekker. Watching the movie, you actually
feel sorry for the guy. Hayes also did a great job portraying the manipulative,
cruel, abusive, tease queen - I would love to see her in a catfight with Neve,
Alicia or Drew. Also a treat to see are a few of not-often-seen-these-days porn
legends/geriatrics (legends, to some - geriatrics, to others) - Jamie Gillis,
Sharon Mitchell, and the Herschel Savage. 

This movie is excellent, assuming that you're watching this on your VCR.
However, if you're like me, and own a DVD version of this movie, you're as
pissed as a postal worker.  Masseuse 3 is not the only Vivid DVD movie that has
gone through some serious editing. The World Luckiest Man (another one where I
have seen both the VHS and DVD version) had also been severely castrated from
its original 210 minutes down to 72 minutes on the DVD. That's practically
two-third of the movie!!!  What on earth is wrong with Vivid?!  DVD's aren't
cheap. However, Vivid DVDs would serve a better use as drink coasters. Until, I
have some reassurance about the future quality of their products, this will be
the last time I will buy any DVD from them.

Scene One (Taylor Hayes and James Bonn)
Taylor in tightfitting white shirt and mini-skirt giving BJ to James, while
he's lying down on a wooden table in some school room. She puts a condom on him

adjacent room with a bunch of eavesdropping students listening in. They dance

paired up in one brothel room, while Melissa and James are paired up in
another. Chloe gives Herschel a BJ.  The scene is then cut to Melissa putting a
condom on James. She then rides him on the massage table. Similarly, while
weaing a police cap, Chloe rides Herschel on the massage table.  She then takes
it up her ass, moaning and shouting expletives at Herschel. The scene ends with
James cumming into Melissa's tongue, while Chloe, still wearing the police cap,
 jerks off Herschel and making him cum into a coffee mug that reads "Beware: I
am armed and have premenstrual tension."  

Scene Three (Taylor Hayes, Mr. Marcus and Billy Glide) (VHS version only)
The scene begins with James hiding in Taylor's closet, after finishing up
cleaning her room, though being expressly told by her earlier to leave after
doing so. Taylor comes into the room with Mr. Marcus and Billy Glide. They go
at it, rough-housing a bit and fondling each other. She does it doggie and
