There is no additional news yet, but the word came from a director at one of the major gay porn studios who had gone to visit McKenna. Details of McKenna's death are not known. It is not known why he committed suicide, or the manner of death. (It is not clear whether he committed suicide on Monday or Tuesday, but the body seems to have been discovered on Tuesday.) From: Tim Evanson <[email protected]> Here's an update on Kyle McKenna's suicide: McKenna -- whose real name is Russell Moore -- took an overdose of pills in his home in Salt Lake City. According to drag performer Mistress Mona -- who was a close friend of McKenna's -- he seemed happy and fine with his life. He routinely went to dinner with friends in the area, and even though he and his long-time lover had broken up some time ago, McKenna seemed to be handling the break-up well. Yet: McKenna also called Mona regularly, but stopped doing so last week. McKenna's friends expected him to show up for dinner on Monday, March 13, but he never arrived. A friend finally went over to McKenna's apartment and found the body. No note was left. McKenna had bagged up all his possessions, which indicates that he had thought about his suicide for several days. When Mona was asked if perhaps McKenna had not handled the break-up of his relationship well, s/he said no. When asked if McKenna had a confused sexuality, s/he also said no. Although gay adult video industry studios portrayed McKenna as "fucked up" and "straight" and "sexually confused", apparently he was quite openly gay -- out to everyone except his family. Although he had a clear personal preference for being a passive/submissive S&M bottom, by all accounts he was level-headed, had high self-esteem, and did not suffer from depression or negative self-image. Industry insiders say that McKenna's ex-boyfriend is contacting his parents. More news to follow.
