Hi all...
The porn world was saddened by reports of the drug-overdose suicide of
gay porn star Christian Fox. Here is the report from David Widmer's
"Adult Video" column in the October 16 issue of "4-Front", a Los
Angeles bar magazine:
Sadly, we learned this week of the death of Christian Fox. Fox,
a honey-blond bottom who was often compared to Joey Stefano in
terms of on-screen charisma, died of a drug overdose, ironically
just as Stefano did two years ago. However, unlike Stefano's
accidental death, Fox took his own life. A suicide note was
found. Fox had been scheduled to enter drug rehab only three
weeks prior to his death, but threw himself through a plate
glass window the night before and was too injured to be allowed
into the clinic. Chi Chi LaRue ran into Fox in New Orleans
during Southern Decadence. Encouraging him to get into
recovery, Chi Chi warned Fox that if he didn't get things under
control he would meet the same fate as Joey. LaRue told me, "I
hugged him and felt close to him for the first time," but he
told Chi Chi, "I want to go." Fox came to the gay adult video
business from his native Canada and is said to have appeared in
his first scene exactly on his eighteenth birthday.
He began his career as a Falcon Studios exclusive model and will
perhaps best be remembered for his two scenes with Ken Ryker in
Falcon's "Big River" and VCA's "Matinee Idol." Chi Chi, who
believes that Christian came into the business with problems
from his childhood (also like Stefano), says that Fox was the
most difficult person he had ever directed. For this reason his
career had basically ended. On top of other problems, Chi Chi
tells me that Christian seemed confused about his sexual
orientation. Fox is survived by a wife who lived with in
her native New Orleans. He was twenty-two years old.
On a personal note: Although I thought Christian Fox was "just another
blond muscleboy-wanna-be" when he first appeared on the scene, I grew to
like his performances. He became highly energetic on scene, and
loosened up during his career so that big, sweet smile crept through in
almost every picture he did. In his more recent films, I thought Fox
even carried the scenes.
Christian Fox, you went too soon.
