An ambitious effort this really; a truly romantic story of two lovers who go their separate ways. She tries to make it in Hollywood but becomes a hooker, he tries to become a doctor but ends up a cabby....personally I found this film slightly disappointing; the sex rarely hits the heights and the two leads never quite convinced me. There's no denying the (mildly depressing) plot though, which actually keeps you interested to the end. John Leslie is also at his wise cracking best in a supporting role here; basically gate-crashing the film and nailing a few ladies in the process (the scorcher with Phaedra Grant is the most memorable scene in the movie.)
